Based on the efficiency of the organization and its reputation, ownership was transferred from the private sector to the government of Sharjah, and it became known as the Sharjah Electricity & Water Department. An economic and financial boom was witnessed in this industry, and as a result, the ruler of Sharjah issued a visionary decree ordering the establishment of SEWA as an independent organization to provide water, electricity, and natural gas to all residents of Sharjah, whether national or foreign.
